    2307 S'<div class="section" id="python-special-interest-groups">\n<h1><a name="python-special-interest-groups">Python Special Interest Groups</a></h1>\n<div class="section" id="about">\n<h2><a name="about">About</a></h2>\n<p>There are a number of Special\nInterest Groups (SIGs) for focused collaborative efforts to develop,\nimprove, or maintain specific Python resources.  Each SIG has a\ncharter, a coordinator, a mailing list, and a directory on the Python\nwebsite.  SIG membership is  informal, defined by subscription to the SIG\'s\nmailing list.  Anyone can join a SIG, and participate in the\ndevelopment discussions via the SIG\'s mailing list.  Below is the list\nof currently active Python SIGs, with links to their resources.</p>\n<p>The SIG mailing lists are managed by <a class="reference" href="http://www.list.org/">GNU Mailman</a>, a web-based interface for\nmailing lists written in Python.</p>\n<p>The <a class="reference" href="/community/sigs/directory">SIG index</a> lists all active SIGs.  The link in\nthe first column directs you to the SIG\'s home page: a page with more\ninformation about the SIG.  The links in the &quot;Info&quot; column direct you\nto the SIG\'s archives, and to the SIG\'s Mailman page, which you can\nuse to subscribe or unsubscribe yourself and to change your\nsubscription options.</p>\n</div>\n<div class="section" id="retired">\n<h2><a name="retired">Retired</a></h2>\n<p>There is also a list of <a class="reference" href="/community/sigs/retired">retired SIGs</a>;\nthese are SIGs that existed in the past but are no longer active.\nTheir archives and home pages are retained.  A retired SIG can be\nrevived, using the same <a class="reference" href="/community/sigs/guidelines">criteria</a> as for\ncreating a new SIG.</p>\n</div>\n<div class="section" id="regional-groups">\n<h2><a name="regional-groups">Regional Groups</a></h2>\n<p>There are also local <a class="reference" href="http://www.python.org/moin/LocalUserGroups">Python User\nGroups</a>, organized by region rather than by special interest.</p>\n</div>\n<div class="section" id="archives">\n<h2><a name="archives">Archives</a></h2>\n<p>All SIG mailing lists are archived.</p>\n<ul class="simple">\n<li>python.org hosts the <a class="reference" href="http://mail.python.org/pipermail/&quot;">Mailman archives</a>.  Click on the link in the\n&quot;Archive&quot; column below for the archive of your favorite SIG.</li>\n<li>The archives at <a class="reference" href="http://dir.groups.yahoo.com/dir/Computers___Internet/Programming_Languages/Python?show_groups=1&quot;">Yahoo Groups</a> are an alternative.</li>\n</ul>\n</div>\n</div>\n'
